Description
Course content:
This experiential two day course gives you a balance of both practical and theory in a great setting on 120 acres at Windaboo In Federal, Northern NSW, in the hinterland behind Byron Bay. The property has very well established landscaped grounds, vegetable garden, a big variety of fruit trees (with a commercial scale avocado orchard), pasture and animals. Biodynamic methods have commenced during 2017. The place has a beautiful feel with plenty of shade in the teaching area.
The course is suitable for food growers from small scale urban growers, hobby farmers and organic farmers keen to develop their food growing potential.and ramp up their organic food production, whilst developing an appreciation of the deeper spirit of nature. It's ideal that you have some experience of organic food growing, but we have catered for beginners. If you have already studied permaculture, you will find the course can extend your existing knowledge, adding a new and interesting perspective to maximising the effectiveness of your food growing activities.
The course content is contexualised to the food growing spaces at the venue and the presenter also works closely with each participant to ensure there is an action plan to bring all content into the context of their own food growing spaces. Course participant numbers are a maxium of 15 people. Accommodation is available.
During the 2 days, Saturday and Sunday, you will:
-
Work with our vegetable growing and orchard areas gaining practical experience of how to work with organic and biodynamic methods
-
Understand the philisophical framework that drives all biodynamic processes so you can work with them from a place of knowing
-
Immerse yourself in the nurturing and beautiful space
-
Appreciate how biodynamic methods will fit into the rhythm of your organic food growing system to produce the highest quality organic food

Participant comments
“This course has really broadened and deepened my knowledge in growing food in a sustainable way. Biodynamics was the piece of the puzzle I was missing in my garden. I can not wait to apply all that was taught in the course as I am certain it will make my garden grow abundantly. The course material is incredibly fascinating and it will make you want to learn even more and dig even deeper. The hands on part of the course is great fun as you will not only hear how to make the biodynamic preparations, but you will get the opportunity to do so! It is a great learning experience and highly recommended as I know it will greatly improve your gardening experience!”Anna Marie Davies, Kellyville, Sydney

1 What is Action Cable?
Action Cable seamlessly integrates WebSockets with the rest of your Rails application. It allows for real-time features to be written in Ruby in the same style and form as the rest of your Rails application, while still being performant and scalable. It's a full-stack offering that provides both a client-side JavaScript framework and a server-side Ruby framework. You have access to your entire domain model written with Active Record or your ORM of choice.
2 Terminology
Action Cable uses WebSockets instead of the HTTP request-response protocol. Both Action Cable and WebSockets introduce some less familiar terminology:
2.1 Connections
Connections form the foundation of the client-server relationship. A single Action Cable server can handle multiple connection instances. It has one connection instance per WebSocket connection. A single user may have multiple WebSockets open to your application if they use multiple browser tabs or devices.
